Mrs. Mary E. Ellis, who lives north of Wingert stop east of Crawfordsville was run over by a Big Four train Saturday morning and the body dragged several hundred yards. It is not known what train hit her but she was killed some time early in the morning. It is supposed before it was light enough for the train crew to see the accident. The body was torn to bits and left all along the track for a space of probably 500 yards. Pieces of her clothing were also found torn to bits and distributed along the side of the track. She was formerly a Rossville, Ill woman and the body was taken there for burial

Mrs. Charles Ellis, daughter-in-law of Mrs. Miranda Ellis, committed suicide by throwing herself in front of a Big Four train sometime early on Saturday morning. The Ellises lived on a farm near Crawfordsville, and about a mile from the place where the body was found. Mrs. Ellis has been in poor health, and this is not the first attempt she has made on her life. She was born in Rossville, Ill., where the body was taken for burial. She leaves the husband and three sons, Lawrence, and Earnest, of Rossville, Ill., and Harry of Malta, Montana.
